Art Statement

This work explores the thesis that contradiction is inherent to being. Signifiers and relationships with the world only gain their meaning when they are observed as having a fundamental disagreement. A struggle to the death follows from this encounter, where the initial internal meaning is crafted by the artist versus that of the viewer. Whether it's a spiritual experience, a political revolution, an attempt at artistic interpretation, or the jungle of the inner psyche, this conflict is necessary for these things to have meaning. It is only through the possibility of negation and clash with external experience that a person can make sense of anything in the world.
